| Post subject: | Fuel Pump Dieing? |
So today i was going for a 4x4 and filled up half a tank of 95. As soon as i left the servo the car started fuel jumping. It would only fuel jump intermittently. It then had no problems going off road and doing a bunch of steep hill climbs. As soon as I went to go home it started again. Replaced filter and it still does it. Also when it happens the accelerator seems to go really loose and pushing it does not increase revs. It happens going down hills, up hills and on the flat |

What engine? If its a carby, is there any oil around the fuel pump. Efi- can you still hear the fuel pump when it does the surge? |

There will be no change in pedal feel if the fuel pump is dying- it will just lean out/ surge. |

Maybe I am just thinking there is a difference in pedal change. Are these common symptoms of a fuel pump going? |

it does it randomly on the flat or down a hill aswell as uphill. It was fine today for an hour offroad but then started surging again back on the road |

It seems as if it ais an electrical problem - when it happens i can pull the throttle and nothing happens the car just dies, like no spark? However i pulled the spark plugs and the tips are really white. They are only 2 weeks old they went in after it went to the mechanics 2 weeks ago. While it was there they adjusted the idle mixture. Could running too lean cause this? |
