Post subject:  87 lwb sierra questions

Hi guys and gals .... just bought an 87 lwb suzy and I have a couple of imeadiate questions .

1 ..... I need rear seat belts .... lap sash type ..... can I use non standard belts ? If so from what car eg landcruiser ?

2 ..... I plan to put on on 235 /75/15 inch goodyear wranglers on standard rims ...... is this ok to do ?

235's on stock rims isn't ideal but it has been done. It's not legal IMHO.

What will you attach the sash of the seatbelt to? There's no pillar to attach it to.

Hi mate ... its to replace the origonal ones that were there .the metal piece that the floor bolt goes through ..... desintergrated (rust )

Factory rear belts are lap only. There is nothing to attach the upper mount to. I'm confused by what you are asking.

I think he wants to replace the lap belts and incorrectly called them a "lap sash" belt. It's actually a common mistake.

(Just think of it like the "sash" that beauty queens wear - up and over the shoulder is the "sash" bit!)

Yep im easerly confused . I need to replace the lap belts that are standard in a lwb sierra ..... can belts from other cars fit ? As I would imagine that the origonal ones would be hard to find .

Of it's lap belts your after, yes landcruiser ones fit.. I'm furiously trying to find the pair I promised garryc!! I had them in my SWB for pit inspection

There's all manner of universal seat belt kits on eBay.

Heaps of people run 235s on stock wheels with no issues.

Thanks guys ...... I went diging around in the garage cause I remembered I bought a dicky seat for my jeep years ago but never fitted it .... and you guesed it ... the seat belts fit the lwb :-))))))
So theres one problem solved .
