Hi Guys Very close to purchasing a Grand Vitara around a 2000 model, with 2.5 V6 Manual. Hoping to grab one with less than or close to 200,000km. Can a few people let me know what the fuel economy is they are getting, with the standard 16inch tyres. A: Full around town use B: highway travelling. Thanks. |

Mines lifted with larger tyres and different diff gears so my figures may be a bit out but around town I can get 300+kms and about 450ish on the HWY. My hwy figures are down due to the bigger tyres and the extra wind drag from the roof rack and bull bar. Speedo is almost spot of for the tyres with the changed diff gears. |

That sounds pretty poor. What size fuel tank do they have? What tyres are you running also? |

usual will be from 10-12L/100km normally 12L/100km Mods and crazy driving can easily see 15L/100km and sand fully loaded can see 17+L/100km. Based on what I've seen on all the GV economy threads made on here. Mine is usually 10-12L |

I'm about ready for another tank-full, but at the moment I am on 520km and the light has lit up yet. Albeit with 225/75/16's so that 520km in effect goes up to a real-world 570ish...so I generally expect around 600km (real kms) from a tank. That being said my general commute is 30kms per day to and from work - 7-8kms suburbia, and 22ish kms highway...but even doing round town work I would still expect 550km (real kms) from a tank, but I do drive sedately.... |

Pretty sure my 04 GV only has a 56l tank max - I coudl be wrong but I don't remember hitting 60 or more anytime I went for a refuel (even with the low fuel light on) Much like b4t I get a good 450k hwy. I also run bigger tyres, bullbar and roof rack. Haven't done gearing yet so I start the car 'in second gear' every time and that's bound to burn some extra fuel. |

Unless you are going to keep driving until you actually run out of petrol there's no way you can accurately measure how many kilometers you are going to do "to a tank" of petrol..... when you fill it up, note how many KM you have done and how many L you have put in. then work out L/100km. |

Why are you starting the car in 2nd? |

He means first gear ends up like "starting in second gear" - too long as a result of the lack of gearing to counteract the larger rubber. |

You can find the official figures on a couple of websites eg http://www.environment.gov.au/cgi-bin/s ... cleid=7249 - city 11.0l/100km , hwy ? http://www.carsales.com.au/private/deta ... =0&sdmvc=1 - under "Fuel" tab, city 11.0l/100km, hwy 8.1l/100km Add the usual bit extra for real world figures and vehicle age..... (Sometimes you can get "lucky" and beat the official figures eg. the 2004 GV XL-7 auto is rated at 16.1l/100km in the city |
