Post subject:  Factory Jimny Roof Rail replacement options

Hi all,

I have accidentally smashed my factory Jimny roof racks so have taken them off. My only issue is now I have 8 studs sticking out of my roof. What are some options available that are able to utilize these studs (can be a cross rail design instead of a length ways rail). I have found these Rhino Racks and was told that I can cut the bar itself down to the required length to mount to the studs. Anyone know if this is true?
Also does anyone know of any other options that I could use? Thanks in advance.

I've got a roof basket with a light bar on it that I want to put on the roof. I had it all mounted then the rails smashed

Here is some pics of the roof as it is now. Also a pic of the roof rails. I will get some dimensions of the stud distances.

If you've already got the basket and gear for the racks maybe you could fab up a set of feet and weld to your basket to permanently mount it using those 8 studs.

Something like this setup.
This basket looks like it might be an ARB one off a bigger rig that was cut down and had feet welded on it.

I think this is a great idea and if I ever broke my rails I would do something simular. My basket stays on the car all the time so it might as well be bolted directly to the roof and get rid of the weak cross bars.

Far front stud to the far back stud measures 1180mm

From left stud to right stud is roughly 1040mm

I was thinking about making a set of feet for it but I need the basket removable. I have found these racks though that run in a set of tracks. Should be able to mount to my roof. They also have the swivel feet for being mounted on a curved roof (which it is).

I will take my Jimny to ARB and see what they can recommend.

Good luck with that...... I hope your local ARB guys are much better than the bunch of pricks near my place.

I was looking at roof racks and a basket for our Jimny so I went in to see what options ARB had, I walked out of that shop so pissed off with the shit service and terrible attitude they gave me. I couldn't believe how much the fat bastard behind the counter pissed me off that day.
The racks and basket was the very first thing we bought for the Jimny and after that terrible experience with ARB I swore NEVER to spend 1 cent with those pricks. And so far so good.

I've been to ARB a couple of times now and the service has been excellent. Which ARB did you have an issue with?

Well I'm going into ARB now to have a look. However, after some thinking I may end up making one.
