Hay all I got a 83 swb soft top with a bit of mods but I'm thinking of getting a newer jimny. What's your thoughts on the off road side of it all |

this has been covered 1 million times. have you looked around? if you wheel hard a jimny is crap. if you want it for road duties the jimny is better. pretty simple and reasonably obvious if you think about it |

sierras are rarer thats all. were seing it on here too. lots more jimnys flooding in. same goes everywhere in the marketplace, all 4x4's are becoming less ofroad cars and more onroad cars due to many factors. the older the car the better it will be offroad in many cases. |

Zookfan, because Bill Larman talked up the JK on FB you're now a jeep guy? Jk's are nothing special. Too big, rubbish gearing, nothing special engines, admittedly, better if you buy a rubicon, but they're all hopelessly space inefficient, can't see out of them etc. I'm no jimny fan, can't really see the point, but I'm not sure a jk is the next logical car. Steve. |

I've wheeled with a few jeeps. And mod for mod a sierra is way more capable. But hey maybe the jeep guys couldn't drive. |

Mines fine it has nothing wrong at all just thinking of getting a new one but I see so many different opinions on it when I try to google on it. Was hoping to see if anyone here has done the same upgrade and is happy with it or miss there sierra. So far a new jeep sounds like it would out do the jimny |

If I was going to DD either a sierra or jimny it would be jimny hands down<br/> Ive made the transition from daily driving a sierra to a jimny and I fully agree with monley the jim wins from better onroad manners to more power, better economy and better comfort just to mention a few things |

That's my feeling too. If I had to choose between a sierra or a jimny as a daily, I'd choose a vitara. As capable, more room, better motors, better auto, more support, better on road. |

Ahh good Steve, lets offer two options and then chose a 3rd... Jimnys are a whole heap more capable then people give them credit for, there is probably a bad mix of inexperienced drivers making a car look bad. As apposed to everyman and his dog owning a sierra and not giving 2 stuffs about panels and readily avaliable parts. Come wheel with me sometime and ill actually show you what a jimny is capable of. Even Timmy's jimny (everything bolt on) is just as capable as mine. And most the haters have only ever riddin in a jimny with awful TD suspension. |
