Post subject:  Rust in new GV

I bought a 2013 GV just a few months ago and today noticed there's rust forming on some bolts near the front suspension (photos included)
Just wondering if this is normal or something to be concerned about.

I don't know about GVs, but they have exactly the same setup on Swifts and they often rust (especially if they are near the coast). If you want to prevent it from happening you can spray it with WD40.

I found this on my new Jimny after being at Straddie for 3 days... It also has electronic rust proofing.. I ended up spraying a heap of stuff with rust proofing fish oil spray/ black underbody rust proofing spray in a few places

That's nothing to be concerned about. If you want, spray it with something as suggested

That's your front swaybar end link- the other end (that bolts on the swaybar) will most likely be exactly the same design and also rusty. My Kizashi has much the same set up and also similar surface rust. I didn't have too many problems undoing the nuts when recently changing the endlinks (apart from the nuts being made from metal about as soft as butter!?)

BTW sprays like WD40 won't last long and will need to be reapplied regularly. You might get better results with a lanolin based spray like this http://www.lanotec.com.au/product/heavy ... d-lanolin/
