Hoping someone can help me out

I have two transfercases, look identical except that the casting is slightly different around the filler plug and the filler and drain plugs are different, ie one case has hex head plugs of one diameter and the other case has keyway and larger diameter. Other wise I cannot tell them apart externally.

Is it the one transfercase an early manufacture and the other from a later zuke??
Both have facilities to take the transmission handbreak drum
forgot to mention one was out of an nt 1.3l
