Hi there - I took my recently purchased 2009 Jimny for a bit of a bash today down some rather corrugated road and twice on the way back the electronics all seemed to fail. The first time was just a flicker of all your normal start up lights on the dash coming up and the stereo going to SYS. The second time at the traffic lights all lights flashed again and then the car stopped. The car restarted again about 5 minutes later. Is it possible I have jiggled something in my travels. If so where should I look first?

Cheers

Have you checked battery terminals/grounding to chassis is okay?

After checking grounds and main power for loose connections, consider the battery as a suspect - even if it cranks properly.

Thanks guys have given everything a good push and have driven since and it behaved. Will definitely keep your suggestions in mind.

Might be worth checking cam/crank shaft sensor if it happens again, happens on hot days or long drives, or sustained off-road driving (sensor gets hot and stalls engine).

Easy way to get it started is pour cold water over sensor and it should start straight away.

Just replace the sensor every couple of years (mine started playing up again over summer, but is behaving in the cooler months).
