The torque rod mount on the rear diff is going to sit over the top of the breather. I was thinking of just notching the bracket but it's still going to be a PITA to access. I have cut the breather off before and put it on the other side of the centre bit, but that's bad because the oil flings off the pinion and straight up the breather pipe.

So I was thinking of relocating it to the axle tube, like so.


I think it will be OK there.

i reckon that'd work, plenty off diff breathers are down in that type of area

Doesn't really matter whereabouts the breather is located as pressure inside the diff is the same at all locations.
The only reason the factory puts the breather at the high point is so any moisture/water that gets into the housing can escape once it becomes steam.
If it were mine I'd try to put it at a high point just to be safe.... You can always fit it to the other side as you suggested with a small splash shield inside the housing.
