My son had a new timing chain kit , clutch put in and oil leaks fixed with a seal kit a couple of months ago .
When he got the car back it blew black smoke on start up , still leaked oil as well .
Now it blows white /grey smoke on start up and when working the engine ( hills ect )
We have waited a while for the mechanic to fix it as he said he would but have given up on him now .
his last comment was put thicker oil in it .
car is not being driven in this condition .
have been leaving this in his hands but enough is enough.
The leaks are a fairly easy / cheap fix i think

does anyone have any idea's on how to fix the smoke problem or what to look for ?

black or grey smoke usually indicates unburnt fuel,

done a compression test? if its happened after the timing chain I'd say that it's been incorrectly timed which on the H25A can be fatal to the engine as its an interference design.
If it was done by a licenced mechanic I'd be pressing them to fix it or take it to the ACCC

never seen a h25a with a few clicks on it that doesn't leak oil either

After recently taking my motor out to fix all my leaks I can safely say its a bitch, and depending where it is leaking will determine how hard it is to fix where it is still leaking.
I'm wondering if they had all the main throttle body and intake apart? When I had mine apart it was fairly dirty in there and the pcv valve was dirty and not functioning. Ended up soaking it and cleaning it to get it ungummed and working properly before putting it back on.

yes i was wondering if something might be installed wrong or not installed ?
there was zero smoke at any time before this work was done .
it appears to be leaking at the rear of the rocker cover but i have only had a brief look
trying to get the young fella involved in it as its his car .
as to intake being apart i do not know. last i saw it the motor was upside down on an engine stand at the back of the shop .

finally got it into the garage it has a bit of oil in the inlet ( puddle at the back )

Well i got the job ( because i'm cheap i think ) so pulling it apart today
the PCV valve seems blocked and the inlet is oily all over
and what a pain to get to here

at least i've got a good idea where the smoke is coming from

apart from the PCV any other suggestions on where the oil is coming from ?

The crap in the intake will be from a combination of oil and also EGR. Don't think there is any other way oil can be getting into the intake system.

It might be worth running an upper cylinder cleaner through once you've done your best cleaning by hand. Definitely clean the PCV out and get that working again. See how it goes after that but maybe it's just shit and oil that's gotten trapped in the intake while it was upside down

PCV cleaned , manifolds cleaned . back together and working . time will tell . about five hrs .

I didn't notice this before, but, if the problem does re-occur - there is a known issue with the cam covers on these vehicles - crud builds up in the baffles and the oil, instead of draining back down, gets sucked through the PCV into the intake and burns. The fix is to either steam clean the covers to get the crud out, or drill out the baffles and clean them.

Or you drill drain holes in the baffle plate on the low side. As I was shown and told to do whilst mine was apart by a suzuki mechanic. My was pretty clean and no real crud built up, but my pcv valve was clogged though.

grey and quite a bit too . goes away but still needs work .

Ive got the same issue with mine, I was planning on doing it myself tomorrow but after seeing just how much needs to be done I think il pass this job off to a mechanic

(its not really that hard just time consuming . if you do pass the work on make sure he does the rocker cover mod ( 3 x 4 mm holes in the low side of the baffle plate )
