Hi all

As you know, driving at night if you don't have a spotties sucks in the old sierras. I'm considering swapping the sealed beams for semi-sealed with Phillips +130 globes. Thoughts?

And standard globes will work well with that, no need to upgrade globes?

Yes standard globes will work well with a harness upgrade , but I think that comment was also meaning that 130watt globes won't fix your problem and may end up melting your existing harness .
Search bright eyes harness upgrade you should be able to find a diagram for making your own.

Headlight wiring loom should be your first point of call.
Then consider changing to H4 style light assemblies.
Upgrading to ultra high wattage globes like your initial plan is completely unnecessary. I run the above with Phillips vision plus bulbs and it's more than ample.

You will be very surprised by how much extra light you will get just from doing the harness upgrade. The stock cabling is rubbish by today's standards. It will probably cost you about $50 if you have nothing at home, and take about an hour to make up if your somewhat of a novice, but it is all plug and play and there are no splicing of wires or cutting any original cabling.

Definitely worth doing before you upgrade your lights to something bigger as you risk melting wires otherwise.

Keep the sealed beams as long as u can. They are so much better then having a low tide mark in your head light.

100/75W sealed beams on Ebay, buying a set. Will need headlight relays/loom.
I will post some pics here once I fit the suckers.
Do the loom first is my advice. I had less than 11.5V at the lights with the engine running 13.9 at alternator,with stock wiring.
And no mud inside lights.
Don't fit H4 withour looms and relays, it will be crapper. Yellow pissweak lights.
