Hiya all...so after nearly a year of running with the M18A and not running correctly I finally had enough savings to get it back on the dyno and he found that at WOT it was running real lean and also that the fuel trims were in the minus ALOT(-14 at times)....so my option was to go for a piggyback ECU and we chose the XEDE unit that Chiptorque use in QLD on there supercharged JImnys as they have very similar problems as I was having....and that has made a big difference,no bogging down now,smoother and more responsive,just way better and jim made 63.9kw and 119NM at the wheels, I also had them remove the poxy farty Triflow muffler and installer a quieter deeper sounding Xforce muffler. For me it wasnt just a case of throw in a bigger engine an she'll be right mate,,,I wish,anyway,its done now,waaay better.
So has anyone else had these sort of issues with there conversions? :roll:

Good to hear your Jimny is running nice now, can I ask who installed the piggyback and roughly how much all up it cost?

Sure mate,it was done by Classic performance and dyno at hackham and all up including the XEDE unit,air freight,install and dyno time it was a tad over 2 grand,not that cheap but well worth it I reckon :peaceout:

that power output is about the same as they quote for the stock first gen G13BB, you sure that's right ? i would've expected you to do tons better than that, even without dyno tuning.

He was quoting power at the rear wheels, i think you will find that output for a G13BB was output at the engine rather than the wheels perhaps? But regardless the figure sounds a bit low...

Well just for reference,Chiptorques Supercharged MANUAL M13A makes 70 kW at the wheels so mine being a NA 1.8 AUTO isn't to bad at all,it's not so much the power but how it drives and this is great now

Anyway I'm sure a M18A makes around 90kw at the flywheel so by the time it runs through the Auto and the transfer case then the diff you lose a certain percentage of power due to that and note that a manual should make more power than an auto.
Someone hopefully will chime in that's more knowledgeable
I should also mention that before my 1.8 was installed they ran it on the dyno with the 1.3 and that made a whopping 39 kilowatts at the wheels :shocked:

And I have also noticed over the last 10 days of driving that I have gained a wee bit of economy too! I am now getting around 220ks to half a tank whereas before I was getting around 200ks to half a tank.
One day I will have to run it til it stops to really see how much I can get out of a tank

Rule of thumb is that you lose about 30% of the flywheel power between the motor and the wheels.

Auto/manual/transfer case/diff gears/tyre choice/individual dyno all have an effect.

64rwkw up from 39 is a bloody good gain and I'm very jealous!
