Looking at these. http://www.theobd2shop.com.au/MS309.html are '99 jimmys OBD2 compliant Suspect the crank angle sensor is dicky from other websites. cuts out when hot under bonnet. Will this meathod pick up codes? http://www.btinternet.com/~j_holland/pages/diag.html Is sensor easy to replace. |

Yes, they should be OBD2 complaint. The plug will be close to the steering column and it looks like this
It will read any error codes that have been logged. It does sound like a cam/crank sensor. |

Bruce, This may be a stupid question, but can these devices be coded to act as a digital speedo, modified for larger tyres? IE can one be fitted and have a new gauge created to act as speedo*1.11 or something? It looks like a pretty handy little device for the price. |

I also use it for Air intake temp, Water temp all at the same time on the same screen. Love this little machine. I got a code error and it picked it up straight away, so I looked the error code on the net and a very simple fix was had. You can set it up for distance to empty, ave speed, lts per hundred etc. Great, great play toy. Just check that it will work on your car first. They are just a simple plug in and set it up and it's all good. |

Yeah, definately sounds like it could be worth having. The fiance would find it much easier to drive with an accurate gauge, and I am not super keen on permanently having a big bulky gps smacked on the windscreen. I couldn't find any info about compatibility with jimnys though.. tried the google search and ended up with endless results of foreign language pages |
