Gday lads was wondering if g16b baleno and vitara cranks are the same. Picked up a baleno engine that has a frigged keyway. So basically wondering if my vitara crank will go into the baleno engine.

Cheers
Dave

I'd just get a secondhand key and cog, and put some liquid steel in the keyway.

Don't bother getting it dyno tuned, but you will get it running sweet enough, held up for eight years so far..........

bye

Thanks mate I had looked into that but with plans for turbo twin cam for this engine I would rather have a decent crank.

Why do you want to use a cylinder head that flows less air than the SOHC 16v head?

Maybe in standard form, plus it gives me the ability to tune the torque curve alot better than is possible with the SOHC. Plus minor port modificaton and match porting of manifolds plus tuned length exhaust manifold should yield better results with the twin cam than the single cam.

It should, but that's not actually true. The SOHC head outperforms the DOHC head on a flow bench under all conditions. I have this information from both local and US sources. Midget sprint car guys have taken the G series engine as far as it's feasible to take one - they're the guys who flow benched the heads.

You're boosting it anyway - I can't see a reason to build a hybrid. The turbo will dominate the power delivery so potential will be all about head flow.

SOHC slays the G13b right up to 15:1 CR methanol. I don't have the flow stats but they came from an impecible source. (Dion at dyno-mite)
