Inherited my Daughters X90 with stuffed balancer failure which had damaged the oil pump casing and flogged out the key way on the crank Just for convenience I'm chucking that engine and going to just drop in a replacement So the question is. Will a G16B from a Vitara bold straight in? Is there any differences at all, such has manifolds, Distributor etc.
Also any other model G16B engines bolt up. Baleno etc??
It's gonna be my old getabout shitter It's got really crappy blue/purple faded paint Might buy a bunch of cans of satin black paint and really make it look crap
All G16B's basically have the same block and head. IIRC the X-90 uses the later style of G16B with the smaller AFM and some other small differences. Any vitara G16B will swap in but you might/should need to swap inlet manifold and distributor to reuse the X-90 injection/AFM etc.

I would throw new main bearings in it as well. if it damaged the oil pump casing, the crank was most likely thrashing around as well. you'd be surprised how much crank will flex! ive seen balancers fail and they usually kill the centre main bearing instantly.
But he's replacing the entire engine for a new one... so any wear from the balancer failure would be completely irrelevant seeing as he's not even using that engine anymore?
