Our new gti engine is missing the rotor out of the dizzy.. Is there more than one rotor to choose from , are there different dizzys and different gti engines ??? I know nothing about the engine we have except it has low ks and is in good condition but I don't know year etc . Can someone please advise . I can give engine # if that would help... The rockers are red ...LOL...that probably doesn't help....

Also what fuel pump would people suggest...

You use the coily tank with the vit pump, the baleno pump also works but requires a hose extension (fyi baleno pump is identical to jimny).
The pierberg pump i suggested works on the standard tank (make sure you clean it out first) and goes in place where your fuel filter goes and requires no other mods besides hose size adaptor. Its pretty much the only self priming pump on the market.
Dont forget to upgrade all the hose to efi rated hose.
Also i use a ryco z200 commo efi filter in the engine bay between the chassis and fuel rail.

Also there are 3 different GTi engines MK1 MK2 MK3. MK1 is carby which you obviously don't have and mk2 and 3 are pretty much the exact same you need the right angle dizzy cap to be able to fit the leads on. You'll still have to hit back the fire wall a bit to get it to work and if you have to take the whole dizzy out youll need to pull the rocker cover off..

Mk1 GTi is most definitely NOT carby. That would make it a swift GTc not a GTi for injection.

Vl pumps are garbage, noisy, not self priming by design and generally fail quickly.
To even have half a chance at longevity you need a facet lift pump feeding a surge/swirl tank then feeding the vl pump.
Its probably the least desireable and reliable setup to use on an efi swap into a zook

Unless you are doing over 250,000kms theres little chance of a intank pump failing providing you dont grab one from a wreck with 250,000kms on it lol.
Issue is that 99.9% of pumps require a constant supply of fuel from a swirl pot or gravity type arrangement they are not designed to suck or have to pull the fuel up out of the tank. Only takes 30secs of running dry and most efi pumps will die.

The part number for the 87-89 Mazda 323 TURBO 1600 is GM564....$10.50 at Bursons... The part number for a Suzuki swift MK 2 is GD 696 .....$14.50...Why should I not buy the Suzuki one....apart from being a couple of dollars dearer...I already have the sideways dizzy cap..

Yes that's correct. I would buy both just incase you have trouble fitting the first one. Before I forget you need the inside of the swift button that goes inside the Mazda one. My first attempt took me a few goes but I've pretty much perfected it now

Well after unwrapping the engine and having a look at the dizzy...It is an Hitachi and looks nothing like the one in the link above..
Sorry about the pour image , I smashed my sony screen and am using my old htc while awaiting parts..

The guy who sold us the engine has sent a text with a part number of JR400

So I am thinking maybe this JR400 rotor goes straight on without the need to buy 2 and make one out of them. This guy is the person who sold us the motor, the 90 degree cap , sideway water pipe and the rest of the stuff for a gti conversion. he just forgot to check that there was a rotor inside the cap....

I took out the photos as they were way too big....will add later when resized..

This is a leafy so do I still use a vitara pump in the leafy tank ???? I think we have a spare coily tank from when we put the 1600 into the other zuk (coily) ..If it has to be coily tank to get the vitara pump to fit...will the coily tank fit in the leafy..
Also.. What year/model vitara pump are we talking about...

Yes coily tank fits and is needed.
Pump assembly is from 16v 1.6 efi vit or baleno (requires pickup hose extension)

I machined the part that fits in the mazda rotor button to fit on the gti shaft.

I looked at the buttons at Bursons today and rather than getting the 2 mentioned above and making one out of them I have opted to buy the one that is perfect.. I believe the part number is JR400 and I ordered it from Repco today , pick up tomorrow. I know why it is not a popular option.....It is $39 instead of $10.50 + $14 for the 2 mentioned previously but I figure having the right one without having to modify 2 is a better way to go. I have found a 16v 1600 Vit pump and pickup at the wreckers so we will get both those tomorrow. Engine is out so off with the sump and oil pickup tomorrow and swap those , strip the other bits off the engine to put on Gumtree.. eg..fully recondition head, dizzy etc then donate the block to a friend..

Depending on what wreckers charge consider the pump i mentioned earlier as being a new part that lets you keep the leafy tank in. Means you can sell the coily tank for $100+
Ive found suzuki fuel pumps that have sat dry in the tank unused for some time can have a very short life once being revived into action.
