Howdy all.
We've got a 2000 V6 auto GV. Great little 4WD & embarrasses a lot of other 4WD's on the soft sand.
However the little bugger has developed an oil leak. It appears to be trans oil, but something funny is going on.
I changed the trans oil the last service as it was discolored & the trans was overfull.
It's now again discolored & overfull & the engine oil is low.
Is there anyway the engine oil can leak into the trans? I know there shouldn't be, but you never know if you don't ask.
The oil leak stopped after I changed the trans oil which made me think it was just overfull, but here we are again.

Since no-one else has had a go at this one....
I can't see how engine oil is going to be lost into the auto.
The engine can develop oil leaks, but if it looks like ATF, then it probably is ATF.
Oil leaks don't fix themselves.

So..I think it most likely that during servicing, the auto was slightly overfilled & the engine slightly underfilled (or it's burning a little oil, but the H25A is not known for it).
There is a procedure for flushing the trans. If you just drained the pan & refilled, you have only changed about 1/2 of the total capacity, as the torque convertor will hold a lot of oil. This old oil in the TC will 'contaminate' & make the fresh ATF you put in look older that it is.
Do weekly checks on both to see if you actually do have a problem, but I suspect not.

Regarding that "but the H25A is not known for it" statement - the H25A IS known for plugging the drain back holes in the valve covers (I believe all the H series engines do this) and that can lead to the oil being drawn into the PCV system and being burnt.
