I am trying to source some 5.12 diff centres for my GV. Now I previously thought both front and rear diff centres from the Vit are the same physical size. Now I've discovered that whilst they are the same ratio the actual size of the centres are different - ie the rear diff centre won't fit into a front diff housing and vice versa (unlike the Sierras). Is this correct? Will a Vit front diff centre fit into an XL7 diff housing (I'm replacing my alloy housing with a XL7 steel housing), and will a Vit rear diff centre fit into my stock rear housing? The more questions I ask the more confused I get - maybe I'm asking the wrong mechanics? |

yes they are different physical sizes any rear vitara centre will bolt into your diff housing all front centres will interchange with all housings, but GV's will need free wheeling hubs fitted as to the steel bits in the front, you need a steel centre as well as housing (actually the housing isnt important, I have only seem one break but that guy couldnt drive you then need the 5.12 gears from a vitara and a diff shop to setup the 5.12 gears into the steel GV carrier your GV being an 03?? should already be steel anyway? |

Nope, it's an auto 2002. It's alloy, unless they now make shiny aluminium-lookalike steel diffs? |
