ok. So my motor decided it didn't want to spin around any more this weekend. Now I'm exploring all options. Single biggest reason is as a family of 4, the GV is squishy. otherwise a reco jobbie would get dropped in with out a thought. XL7 is obviously bigger, and little different and I'll be sitting in one on the weekend to work out if it suits. In terms of swapping my parts over what does and doesn't fit. From googles and others, rear springs WONT. But.... Bullbar (uneek) Snorkel Front Diff Front struts and springs. Cargo transfer bash plate. All WILL. Other random parts, CV's? Steering Arms? Can any one confirm/deny or offer any other input or other things that do/dont on this? |

The main thing to look out for is the year of the XL7 00-02 ones with the same headlights as yours will have basically the same front end. e.g front diff and cvs all same/swap-able. 03-05 xl7 have a much different front diff and components to go with it. your bullbar/snorkel will only line up with 00-02 model also. front struts and springs are same in both and as you've pointed out rears are different, but your want different ones to account for the extra weight/base of the xl7 anyhow. Its the rear diff you need to be certain on as the rear in xl7 is unique to it and has very little options for upgrade. transfer bash plate should be interchangeable also |

Thanks man. Super helpful. There is currently a little birdy exploring some locker options from other cars in the back of an XL7. Proven fitted and road working. First offroad test this coming weekend |

Bit of confusion about diff ratios in XL-7s, seems to be a 5.13:1, which was not offered in std Grand Vitara wagons, so while front housing are likely to be the same, centres / crownwheel & pinion won't be. Tailshaft is 2 piece, front seats have fold down arm rests but will bolt into a GV, interior behind front seats is all different. I've heard that transfer case input spline has 4 variations which can be a pain to find the right one if you ever need to. Don't see why a complete 2.5V6 g/box & t/case wouldn't bolt in though. Front guards, doors & bonnet on early cars are the same, everything body wise from the front doors back is different (well, maybe the fuel filler door is the same) Rgs, Michael |

Thanks. Front cover and input of TC swaps between. Found that one out when balls deep replacing my transfer. |
