Have a g16a carby engine in a vitara and wondering can I fit a g16b efi motor in its place using carby etc !!!! Different I know !! appreciate any advise !!

There has been a few people use carbies on the g16b motors etc.
IMO its mostly pointless.

If you want EFI in your car find a g16b with loom etc and install it.

defently if its the same year and matches up bolt hole wise between the engines, plenty of folk here cram a g16b into sierra's.

My initial thoughts are that it may be more of a headfuck to change over to carby than to fit the extra bits in to run the efi?

If the manifold bolt patterns are the same I don’t see any reason it would be difficult, I can’t confirm the bolt patters are the same sorry

Manifold patterns are not the same. Jonno-Racing built a carby G16b. It worked well but required custom work to run a suitable distributor and a custom inlet manifold to use twin sidedraft pit bike carbs.

There is a TBI swift that could supply a downdraft compatible manifold, but distributor etc will still need to be dealt with. All up a lot of fiddly work to have none of the benefits of efi (which has nothing to do with gains- it’s all about reliability, drivability and diagnostics)

The Swift has the engine in an East/West configuration, and the block is rotated forward to clear the bonnet. The Swift manifold on the 16v 1.6 can be used in a Nth/Sth RWD configuration as EFi, but when used with a Carby it would be tilted to the driver's side, playing havoc with the float.
