Hi. Does anyone know if the rectangular transfer case mounts from an 84+ Sierra will fit an 81 Sierra (round mounting rubbers)

The actual rubber mounts will not interchange.

It is possible to fit a later transfer case to early mount brackets (and vice versa), but the brackets and rubbers are particular to the chassis.

Thanks for the info. The rubbers on mine are clagged out with some missing. From googling I noticed a few companies make replacements for the later model mounts out of solid plastic with a through bolt. (ie same theory as the earlier mounts) Apparently the more rigid mounts work better than the soft rubber ones. Does any one know what is the best material to make up some mounts out of. I have a lathe and mill so it will be an easy job to make them instead of paying $120 for originals.

Hi. Thanks for the info. I have looked through all the megazip parts diagrams and nothing matches. My transfer case is mounted via round rubber blocks with a trough bolt. There are 4 mounts and each mount has 4 rubber rings (blocks) with a 70mm bolt holding it all together. From what i can tell the mountings were changed in 84.

Yeah, SJ40s before 11/84 had the 4 through bolted mounts. They're superior in strength to the later bonded rubber mounts.
