Hello all, I've been fighting some rich running gremlins with my 1997 X90. I figured I'd try and get some data off of the EDU and after some mucking about I have managed to get the Rhinoview software to work with standard SDL cables by modifying the DLL that comes with it. I figured I'd share this the official cables are unobtainable and it might be useful for others who want to read live data off of their non OBD2 compliant Suzukis.

The software itself hasnt been modified so you're welcome to download an unmodified version of the software from the official site. To get the software to work with generic FTDI cables you'll need to add the FTD2XX.dll and FTD2XX_backup.dll files from the Internet Archive version into the same folder that the software lives. The FTD2XX_backup.dll is just a renamed version of the original and the FTD2XX.dll is essentially the bridge between the original dll and the software.

There are a few quirks to using these generic cables as they arent very well shielded from interference. To get reliable live data while the engine is running I've found that running the headlights and blower at max stabilises the vehicles 12V system enough to get readings however the connection tends to drop out after a few minutes or after revving the engine too high. To get truly reliable readings I have been hooking a 5A battery charger up to my vehicle.
In saying that your kilometerage may vary as I believe either my alternator or battery may be going bad and the cable you buy may be better than mine.
