i haven't done one for a while but from memory, we bashed the crap out of it to get it off and used a press to get the new one on. |

ive always had access to a press and the proper tools and never used em to remove, sit bearing on something solid, wrap tightly in rags, put glasses on and smash with hammer then the 2 inner bits you have left, cut a groove a few mm thick with an angle grinder, then bash crap out of said groove with hammer and cold chisel, this will spread it and crack the races so they will slide off to put one on I just use a bit of 32NB thick wall pipe and bash em on, prob not the best way but its easy and the bearing never twists or gets stuck |

Hey guys, Excuse my ignorance but what is 32NB Wall Pipe? I am assuming it is the size of a piece of p[ipe. If I go the the metal joint down the road will they know what I am after? Cheers Rapson |

yeah 32nb is 32mm nominal bore, basically 1 1/4 water pipe will be about 42mm OD and 5mm wall thickness, check thats the right size to slip over the axle 1st though cause I could have the wrong size |

Beauty, thanks Royce, I think when I take the axel out I will take it to the metal shop and get the right size pipe. So the pipe should be pretty snug around the axel so as to bash the inner race of the bearing down. |

yeah you want it to hit the inner race and not the seal section of bearing, the pipe will either be a pretty good fit or way to big, there arent too many different sizes when it comes to pipe |

Ahh good work Royce... At what year Motor Mechanics Apprentices do you learn that procedure, or was that in Bush Mechanics School. That is why they call on Royce when things go BANG in the bush Oh and Caboolture |
