Post subject:  repowering my vite
the time is nigh, my vite has a pourous block, which i've known about for 6 months, but lately is using a litre of water every few days. still runs perfectly tho. not over heating, not blowing water out the overflow, etc. honestly haven't isolated where it is actually going, but is not good.

so, opinions invited as to which path i should take, or any others not mentioned.

1. G16B from a late model GV shorty.

2. H20A from a GV, with box n dice.

3. 4A-GZE and adapter plate.

no idea of prices yet, except no.3 motor and loom = $1250 + freight.

H20 may not fit due to manifold

4agze would be a messy conversion and would cost a fortune to make it factory reliable

perhaps new block, low CR pistons and blower of 4agze :)

I done a conversion from a G16A to a G16B. No real problems as long as you get the Engine and computer & harness from the exact same vehicle.. I cant stress enough about this.. 8O

There are several different combos and none match each other. You'll need a tank from a Efi aswell or use an external fuel pump with a surge tank.. also new exhaust with CAT or a secondhandy from the wreckers... See my homepage for the conversion I did. :)

sp1086- i am putting in a g16b in my sierra out of my swift, my question is what dizzy do i replace it with as the swift one will go through the firewall

I still have a h20a for sale if your interested. it was from a short wheel base Vit import. all inclusive, etc engine gearbox transfer, radiator, wiring, every thing. from the firewall forward.

Currently the vit front cut including motor etc is located in Ipswich - Brisbane. Price wise Ideally i would like $1500. for the whole lot

You'll need one off a Vitara also the housing which gives you the right angle. Beware there is 3 different types.. 1 Has 2 wires with a halleffect type sensor inside. 2nd type has 5 or 6 wires with built in coil and igniter. 3rd type is 3 wires simlar to 1st type but still different.. I personally would prefer all the components from a Vit .

it is from a Escudo sports, (japanese Vitara.) they did a version in a short wheel base. Its the 2.0 v6 same as from the long wheel base but with all of the fittings for the short wheel base. 1996 model

is this the one you mean, this had 2L 4cyl, if it was a gv i would have been interested but i do know someone that might be , thanks for the info

simlar model, but as you can see by the pics its a V6 same as came in the early GV's

OK, my bad.....

i was under the impression that the H20A was a 4 cyl, not the V6.

hmmmm..... so how would a 2lt 4 cyl , and box, go, in a vitara. ideas???

how would it go, as in, easy swap, practical swap, worthwhile??

for those that don't know my vite, currently, 1.6 efi, 4 spd auto, JLX 5 door, and i'd be interested in keeping it auto with any swap done.

im not sure on codes but the 2L 4cyl has 39% more power and 39% more torque than the 1.6 so swapping 1.6 for a 2l would be worth it plus u still have a zook engine in it ( bragging rights ) not like all the sirras with toyota's in them ( good power but im a purist )

my friend had a 1.6 wagon with exstractors fully coated raceing exhaust and worked head ,the best 1.6 wagon i have seen but my 2door 2Lt would allway's leave him in the dust!!

the 2L has a long torque curve , in 2nd it would pull 110KM just before it cut out!! ( stock )

i want to buy a 2lt softtop again!!

The 2L 4cyl zooks also have a bigger fuel tank too. I've seen one in robbo's zook. I've heard that Suzuki only released these rare 2L 4cyl's for a short period so this makes them hard to find and also parts are hard to find. I think the engine mounts are way different and also they had a different chassis.

All the same the extra power would be welcome..

i forgot the 2.0 4's came out in the wide track vits, they also were put into early GV wagons too.

the wide track vit had a wider chassis, and longer front suspension arms.

roz (wife) said she doesn't want me to fix my vite, but update to something much younger. albeit her first tho.

with this latest news, has anyone heard of turbo'd jimny's?? has it been done yet??

as much as i like the little jiggers, coming from a 'big block' zook that lopes along the highway easily, and comfortably, the idea of keeping a 1300 on the boil at said speeds, isn't appealing.

the thought of selling my vite, honestly hasn't been entertained yet. i know it will happen one day tho. with all of it's faults and/or short comings, it's running great.

it purrs along the highway 2800 rpm @ 100 kph, 3000 @ 110, doesn't miss a beat, good economy as low as 8.9 lt/100, but averaging 10. no rattles, squeaks, or clunks. starts first pop, runs all day, hot or cold etc.

i love my zook!

I dont know a great deal about the market value of Vits. My sister is after one as she has just moved back from over seas. given the niggly things with it i would say you would get 3-4K for it
