Being completely ignorant of headlights and what is best, I thought I'd ask if there is a better type of headlight to put on my Zook. It has those 7", 3 pin sealed beam units, which are a bit dull to even read by.
Can Halogen or some other flash type be installed instead? Would doing so impact on the existing wiring/circuitry?

Michael

then make up one of these

the biggest problem with sierra lights is the power travels a total of 12 metres through thin wire so the voltage drop is massive

the relays fix that and change it to a direct path from battery to headlight so there is no drop at all

the different headlights use a different focussing method, the beam is focussed via the reflector not the lense so less light is bounced back into teh light and being wasted

then the globes, ive tried all te plus 50 style globes and these were by far the best, plus being proper Quartz they done shatter of they get wet, plus they use the same power as stock, all the 90 / 130W are useless, the extra brightness isnt worth the current loss

Yep that's the same lights as Casper as got. He gets flashed sometimes while driving as they think he has hi beam on. :-) then he flashes his hibeam on. :-) This setup is great.

Hi Royce,
Would you please update this post as the links don't work, and I would like to update my lights before I drive back to darwin.

Cheers, Davo.

If people are flashing at you don't you think you're lights might be TOO BRIGHT or need adjustment?

The std`s with this wiring would be hugely brighter, most of the std`s lack is power supply....

Post subject:  Re: All the better to see you with....headlights...

chuck it all out Sam, especially if the reflectors are dull

everything does its part, the loom gets you all the voltage you can to the globes, the globes make the most light they can with the available power and the reflectors point it where you want it to go, though these days HID kits are cheap as chips and smash this sort of stuff (not legal though)

hehe says the guy who has stock wiring in his vit with a servo globe in one side and an old spare that was under the seat in the other side :)

well i have general electric globes in mine which are the best i have come across, doing the wiring for me would be free(including bits), so i'll just do that and if i ever got new lights then it will already be set up for it :)
