Post subject:  New fuel gauge...

Hi all,

Bit of a nothing topic...just keeping in touch.

Finally got around to getting a new fuel gauge for my zook. Like alot of people, I've been using the trip meter. That all changed 2 weeks back when the speedo cable got ripped out while I was exploring, so I got a new cable and fuel sender sent over from Suziwest.

I thought it would be good having a fuel gauge now, but now I can see the damn think sinking down the empty...which is depressing. I've done 150K's this week and she's down to half a tank. (the distance is approx., speedo out 80%, actually reads 180K's)

I have a spare fuel tank I plan to put in right at the rear (my tank is mid-mounted). That'll increase her range a bit.

Say, has anyone tried keeping their spare tyre on the bonnet or roof? I don't think either would be strong enough without re-inforcing. I'm going to store it, upright, on the tray directly behind the drivers seat. It blocks my vision the least there.

Hi Losfer,

I haven't had the need for a spare either, but I know the I'll need it the moment I leave it behind :-)

I thought 150 was about par...I was a bit disappointed, my old '83 NB Pajero diesel used to get close to 30mpg, and she was a bit tired. I suppose though, given the amount of rev's the little beast has to do, and it's complete lack of areodynamic style, it has to use the much.
