Hey guys...I was down visiting my fabricator today to talk about some stuff for my sierra

we started a discussion about rock sliders and he has said he will make me some and do a good price if we can get a group of them

they will be this sort of style:

except they will go around the chassis rail with the square plate and the high tensile bolts to lock them in

you will obviously need a 1" bodylift to fit them...I will arrange interstate frieght for interstate buyers so long as they pay for it...busfrieght shouldnt be too expensive anyway

price will be around the $450 mark depending on how many buyers we can get...would anyone be interested?

His fab work is fantastic...he has made a whole bunch of stuff for my soarer and roll cages for my mates...these sliders will be made out of cold drawn 38mm mild steel (rollcage material)

the guy doing it is Craig Helps from Helps Metal Work

that last one is actually the turbo manifold off my soarer...fantastic peice of art!

He may look into front and rear bars as well if there is enough interest with the sliders

I will personally vouch for Craig's work as it is second to none

looks like some great work. I think i'll be getting him to do some work for me quite soon.
I'd like sliders but i don't have a body lift. Might be keen on some bar work early next year though.

I'm definately interested, Not sure if i'll be in Darwin or Cairns then, but we can sort that out later.

If possible i would like mine made to fit a 2" body lift and to extend horizontally out from the sill by about 20cm, that way the mrs can use it as a step to get into the car also - happy to pay a little extra for that though.

How hard is the 1" lift to fit? 4x4 shop I was at a while ago told me they're difficult to body lift.

If it's simple enough, I'd be keen!

not hard dude...ive done one on a hilux before and it was pretty simple

just requires a good jack and some patience

Yeah all you need to do is undo the bolts that connect the body to the chassis, jack the body up and put the polyurethrane blocks in there, then put the new, longer bolts in to hold them in place. with a 1" lift you won't really have to worry too much about extending brake lines, fuel filler hoses etc, but there may be some lines you have to extend.

they will be made on my car first so yes they will suit a 2" bodylift

obviously if you have a 1" lift they will be made slightly different so I need to let craig know these things

:thefinger: :thefinger: Yea yea Gus... My point is if you don't wanna run 31s plus then 1 inch body lift is plenty... There's no point running more lift than your ever gonna want.

I've got extended brake lines already :)

I'd do the 1" lift to get these under there. I'll get back to you 1J. The price is for a pair of course?

Not to keen on a 2" lift as my zook is already tall. I drive it like I drive my silvia as it is. Any more lift and i'm gonna take a corner rollways.

Glavas, you need to realise that no 4wd will handle like a "ricer" & you'll need to adjust you driving style to suit very quickly, you're sierra is no taller than any other 2" lifted sierra & there are HEAP's of those running around & quite a few with the 2" body lift.

Old habits die hard!

2" body lift would make my front bar look weird. What is the reason for a body lift besides the fact you can fit bigger tyres?

You also get more space in the engine bay to fit a bigger engine, and possibly can get a bigger fuel tank as well without lowering it -if you get a custom tank (ie: have the fuel tank mounted to go 2" above the chassis so its almost touching the body)
