Guaging interest in original Japanese market JB23 hood scoops 1999 - 2012. These can easily be made to fit Australian delivery Jimny's by a half competent diy'er. The bracing is the same and has the fitting screw holes already in the bracing in the Australian delivery bonnets. Cost would be $140 + postage. (These are used items from Japan in good condition). (These do not effect water into engine bay as the front grille itself is open!) Attachment: JDM hood scoop.jpg

Addition of postage would only be the postage for domestic delivery within Australia, (you can pick up if your in Brisbane) |

Some people have stated that fitting a functional scoop would allow water into the engine bay, I'm just pointing out that water would be entering long bfore it gets to the scoop opening through the grille vents |

That’s false. When fording, the water level inside the engine bay stays relatively low, even if water is pushed over the bonnet. However, with a hole in the bonnet the water that flows up the bonnet lands on the coil packs. Don’t believe me? Conduct this thought experiment. Imagine driving through water with no bonnet on. Are you claiming the engine in a car with no bonnet doesn’t get any wetter than a car with a bonnet fitted? The redundant scoop fitted to the local model jimny is blanked off to prevent this problem. (Because without an intercooler under the scoop it’s not functional) By all means fit one of these if you like like them, and good luck with the sale- I’m sure there is a market, but the claim they don’t introduce more water into the engine bay is demonstrably false. |

Yeah I get it as the ac condensor and radiator would create an obstruction to the water flow |
