Post subject:  LWB Sierra Tailshaft and WT diffs NSW
Hi guys, I've just picked up a 1L 1985 LWB project, and I don't have a rear tailshaft to suit it. It will be running WT diffs, and a WT transfer case but with the drum handbrake put on it. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Also chasing a set of WT diffs, if they have been setup for NT spacing, even better.

If it's a plastic dash 1l then you can use the rear tailshaft from a 1.3l LWB. If it's a steel dash then only a steel dash 1l tailshaft will fit.

To swap to WT diffs you'll probably want a WT tailshaft yoke to fit to your tailshaft.

Especially if you’re going to need to replace uni joints, otherwise it’s just as easy to change the diff flanges to NT but either way works

Edit: having said that I don’t like just swapping flanges on a diff as the spacing can be quite fickle from what I understand

It's a steel dash model. Thinking it might be easier to run the WT transfer/ diffs, sell the 1L transfer case have a tailshaft made up. But what to do with the handbrake cable then?

Oh!! Out of my area of expertise sorry.. is the 1ltr case a switched case or no switch?

If it’s switched I’m sure you can use any LWB driveshafts or flanges NT or WT, and can use the transfer case mounted centre brake

However if it’s not switched there’s likely some traps but I’m not familiar with the setup.

I have a set of complete 97 Maruti wide track diffs available, n/t flange spacings, 4.1 ratio and 146,000klms on them. New unis available too.
