No they are value block IDs there part numbers would be more like 1J0927903E
VW found a long time ago that translation for IDs was easier for world wide then shortend names like VSS.
To me VSS means nothing where G2 or G60 or G21 will tell me exactly what I am looking at and what set up is onthe car without ever opening the hood. All I have to do is hook my scan tool. It is harder to get usetoo but once you do it makes for much easier Diag.

I did my 1.6 conversion without the VSS and found that if i was at cruising (consistent) speed and pabbed my foot down, the car would splutter before accelerating. This was fixed once i moved the VSS circuitboard from the vitara cluster to the sierra cluster.

vwdave can you get back to me about completing payment for the Vitara intake manifold and angle dizzy drive, i need the cash asap.

Interesting. Mine does the same and I had wondered if the VSS would make any difference.

t Some warning lamps are installed only in accordance with the relevant vehicle equipment level.

1 - Rev. counter -G5-
2 - Coolant temperature gauge -G3-
3 - Fuel gauge -G1-
q Adaption → Chapter
4 - Speedometer -G21-
5 - Voltmeter -G14-
6 - Driving distance display -Y4- (total distance)
7 - Driving distance display -Y4- (daily kilometre distance)
8 - Reset button for trip recorder
9 - Coolant shortage warning lamp -K36-
q Lights up if the coolant level is too low or coolant temperature is too high
q Indicates fault if warning symbol fails to go out again after a few seconds, or lights up/flashes whilst driving. Three warning sounds are given.
10 - Brake pad warning lamp -K32-
q Brake pad thickness monitoring for front brake pads.
q Lights up when front brake pads are worn below the permissible thickness. We recommend also checking the thickness of the rear brake pads.
11 - Oil level warning lamp -K38-
q “Lights up”: engine oil level is too low.
q “Flashes”: engine oil level and oil temperature sender is defective.

17 - Front left door open warning lamp -K123-

q Flashes and emits three warning sounds if engine oil pressure is too low.
19 - Knob for adjusting digital clock
20 - Digital clock -Y2-

G39 - Lambda probe
G450 - Exhaust gas pressure sensor 1
if its a TDI they have
G506 - Temperature sender before particulate filter

That's what I was thinking, I work on an apple mac all day & I can understand the in's & out's of most manufactures but the VW codes made no sense! 8O

Well with as long as I have been working for VW I have never had a problem getting a job. Infact The last 2 times I have changes jobs its because I was poched from where I was. I have never been short of places to work. If you go read in the thread about what you do for living. I am a bit of a work-aholic and commonly hold up to 3 jobs at once. I have done a lot in my short life.
I am a good VW tech but have freely admitted a few times now I am not a good mechanic due to my narrow minded training. I know my VW training holds me back.
