Hey guys,

I had my coily bonnet fling up on my way from landcruiser park(at around 80km/h) pretty lucky not too much damage except my bonnet work I had been doing for the last few weeks, windscreen and slight roof damage...basically I need a new bonnet, and coily ones are hard as to find...can a WT bonnet fit with some mods or is the body shape different??

Also has anyone removed the windscreen from a coily??(mine is very badly cracked....got a new one getting fitted next week and need to remove and fixed the rust before then..)

Cheers

No other bonnet will look nice.

Coily bonnet suits coily only. Hardtop/softop will fit.

Suzi four at dunheved have at least 2. Unsure if they will post them.

No a WT bonnet is a different shape because the coily front end tapers back on each corner - WT is flat across the front.

Yes - I removed a coily windscreen recently. To remove the glass I got a (really) long bladed stanley knife and cut into the adhesive on the inside in 1 continous motion all the way around. You have to remove the rubber edging trim behind the screen to get at it and I can't remember if removing the dash helped to get access to the bottom edge. If you cut deep enough all the way around from the inside it should fall out easily.

Ouch... i had my bonnet fly up to, when i had my 1L Sierra way back, it was about 80km/h too, luckily mine had the rubber bump stop in the middle above the windscreen, it just made a small dent the size of the rubber stopper... makes a hell of a bang when it flies up, a real heart starter or stopper... i had to put bonnet pins on it after that...
I like the mods you have done to your bonnet, its a real bugger about stuffing your bonnet up...

Coily bonnet is higher on the sides as well (i.e. the cowl on a coily is higher) if you try to fit a WT or NT bonnet there will be a big gap at the side where the bonnet meets the top of guard.

I saw a bloke once whilst I was working up at the raceway. Pulled off the track in his GTR. Pulled the pins and lifted the bonnet and did some fiddling.

Got back onto the track at one end of the start finish straight and nailed it, just before the braking area BOOM! Guess he didn't put the pins back in
