gonna be doin the rear main and clutch in the GV soon. Should i go for a H/D clutch or just stick with a standard one? I dont have any gearing and run larger tyres. but diff gears will be getting done very shortly with lockers.


Opinions?

In my understanding, clamping pressure/surface is more important.
As a lot of HD clutches are just harder to declutch, not grippy as such.
Clutch cables can suffer with some hd clutches

i think do not go down the HD clutch route, i have one in mine and it has given me quite a bit of hassle.

what sort of hassle with what sort of use and tire size etc?

I run a clutch industies performance clutch and it works well with no issues.

This is for a GV and not a sierra. Gv's have a hydrollic clutch.

looking at a Clutch industries clutch from Dank. exceedy price was $420.

i just got an excedy clutch, standard one not HD for $240 through repco!

That included clutch plate, pressure plate and thrust bearing

Go talk to a custom clutch builder.
I had one built by NPC in Brisbane when we replaced my clutch & rear main, the whole clutch kit cost $350 including the fly wheel machining.
I now have an HD race performance clutch with standard pedal weight for the price of one out of the box....worth looking at.

Are there any medium range clutches, between stock and HD ?
As i would like something better than stock, but not as heavy as HD... as i think mine needs replacing soon...
