I am going to replace the Heim Joint and Rear Shocks on my Vit which has the 3" Calmini lift kit fitted.

Does anyone know what shocks are avaliable to fit the Vitara mounting points?

Was thinking Rancho or Fox.

But I am finding it hard to work out the specs I need.

And the Vitara has the single piece eye rings and stems.

I couldn't find Rancho with single piece eye rings and stems combination.

Anyone know about other different brands that fit like:

Bilstein - EFS - Ironman

I would have thought Rancho Part # 99009 would be awfully close.

I have them in the back of my Gwagen ( for which they are miles too soft, even turned right up) and I reckon they are very close to what a calmini Vit rear needs.

$80 will get you a pair of VL commodore shocks from super dooper cheapo auto.

Last weekend I put in VR shocks but later found that the VL ones are the super mega long ones. (About 30mm longer)

I'm not really a fan of commodore shocks, even though I run them on the front of my junk. They are pretty light duty - I've seen them bend their eyes in a GV

I'm not really a fan of Ranchos either, but if they're right, they're right.

Like Mr Box said VL dunnydoor shocks are the way to go
I got them in my swb and rate them 10 times better then the calmini crap

They're a similar bore diameter to the Calmini's, and theres talk of that calmini's are actually Gabriels renamed, co-incidently they're both made in mexico, sure they're not a 4WD shock, but unless your driving on corrugated roads for a couple hundred k's, they'd be fine for everyday driving and the sort of offroading we / I do. Onroad I find it just fine, definitly a big improvement to the rooted shocks I took out. I've also noticed a big difference when I put the brakes on too.

Value for money, you can't beat it. But if you want to spend $400+ on a pair of shocks, then go nuts.

Oh and just because I have it next to me, the Calmini shock part number is 658489.

And that's one of the biggest things I have against them. The adjustment is a gimmick. (and it's vulnerable)

Once they're on the right setting, it will be obvious and there will be no need to touch them unless you change spring rate.

Spring rate and shock valving are linked. Without changing spring rate there's no need to change shock valving.

I've had Ranchos on me Gwagen for 11 years. They don't get adjusted after I realised all I was doing was ruining my car's handling, regardless of the terrain I was driving.

I like gimmicks I really only turn the front up when around town.
But I wouldn't buy them again.
