anyone got a clutch alignment tool that i could borrow, saves me buying one, will buy u 6 pack of favour brew for your effots

Pretty sure you can buy one specifically for a sierra for like $15 or universal for $25.

Cheaper then a 6 pack

I've always just lined it up by sight and feel and never had any issues.

Finger works well.

Mechanics cannot have every clutch alignment tool made, have seen many a mechanic use the ole finger method. Myself included.

Its all about feel, your finger will easily sus out alignment. If you cannot source a tool.

Tool is probably better, but finger is good.

BTW. If your replacing the clutch you SHOULD machine the flywheel. Think of it like brake rotors, Personally I wouldn't put new pads in without machining the rotors.

thats true some times u can get away with it if ur lucky

also if u are strugling to get the box out u can undo the presure plate take that out then drop box l

flywheel got machined today and picked up clutch

flywheel got machined today and picked up clutch

good job did u make that cut like i sugested ?

I was puzzled on how you can remove a clutch and fly with the box and motor in place. But I suppose there is method in your madness.

those plastic universal ones are bad !!! i had nothing but trouble using it i used my eye and we made out own tool .. best bet is get a sierra one

If you have the engine out it's only 4 bolts, 2 plugs and a cable to take the box out. 5 minutes max.

I did the Jim clutch with the gearbox in. just get a small mirror and torch and line it up by eye.

I usually align all my clutches by feel, except for heavy arse truck ones that sit in a deep recess.

I have a proper one, never used it cause I have an eye and the ability to remove a gearbox

I have an input shaft here if you get desperate...
Nothing like the real thing to align a clutch although I've never used it....

why are you doing it the hard way man you could have brought it to mine all of a few minutes away and used the hoist and dropped the box with ease
