Of the 3 punctures ive had in 4wd's, none have been side of the road fixable (14mm bolt through the tread, piece of steel in and out, stanley knife) only 1 of those has been manageble (the knife blade snapped sideways under a tread block and was a slow leak)

I'd go with the ability to repair a tyre and a useable small spare on the back, or a fullsize and rear suspension that doesnt shake shit to bits

This fixed alot of issues with carrying my 30" spare. Just gotta get around to finishing it but plating the door between the 2 hinges.





Because I also travel a lot of k's from here to home and back, if in the chance I did have a flat i would rather not bugger around on the side of the road trying to repair it. 10min tire chance is a lot easier IMO. We also have had quick a few zuks up home with blown and torn sidewalls.

i only ever carried a stock size spare on my hardtop because i didn't know any better.

no spare on my LWB because i couldn't afford a 33" spare and realised it was pointless.

now i carry a full size MT spare on my vitara because i think it looks cool and i never go offroad anyway, if it saw some rough tracks it would probably rip the door off.

In 5 years over 3 suzukis I have only ever had beadleaks from mud and 1 slow sidewall leak from a shitty cooper. All of them were "fixed" by my crappy $40 supercheap compressor.

spare rim aint a bad idea though - if you blow a tyre at speed or offroad and ruin the rim at least you can get a new tyre easily and fit it to a matching rim you have on hand.
