94 maruti running a 1.3 sierra and 5 speed.
when the vehicle is cold, changing gears is really easy.
once the vehicle is at operating temp and higher, down shifting is really difficult, to the point that its almost impossible to get it into2nd than 1st.

it seems at operating temp that the clutch is not dissengaging properly, when i eventually get it into first, if i take the foot off the braker it creeps forward pretty quickly and sometimes i can smell clutch.

my question is: is this a clutch cable problem, or a wrong gear oil problem or adjustment problem?
and how can i fix it.

also the clutch an exeddy hd clutch and is about 2000km old.

cheers

Id try adjusting the cable first and see how it goes.
The adjustment is easy just get under the car with a 14mm spanner and a shifter and tighten the nut on the end of the clutch cable where it joins to the gearbox. 1 turn might be enough.

yeah sounds like the cable. Happened to my sierra when it got hot after long drives. Turned out it had kink/bulge in the cable close to where is passes by the radiator hose.

i just had a problem like this. was a unknown useage clutch but (turned out to be pretty much worn)

it was hard to get into gears. tightened cable. drove for a while. started to be hard to change again. tightened. hard to change again.

pulled it out and the throwout bearing was mangled big time. throwout bearing was noisiy but. probably not same problem as yours. similar in the keep tightening thing but so i dunno
