Are the ranchos adjustable, or just the plain 9k's?
I hear that the plain 9k non adjustables are stiff as all get out.

Aren't all Rancho 9000's adjustable?
Aren't 5000's non adjustable?
Rubbish either way (from experience) but maybe I have my facts wrong...
Steve.

Bollocks. They are cheap shit we pay too much for over here.
They are not necessarily soft, and they are far from strongly constructed. Broken eyes from crap welding, paper thin bodies..... Normally, I'd say you get what you pay for, but by the time you get them over here, you get far less than you pay for.
I bought a set over 10 years ago which are on my Gwagen and I dyno'ed tham to confirm suitability. I've fitted some to sierras (on custom mounts) they were overrated 10 years ago. Now they are just irrelevant.

Embarrassing to deal with. So arrogant you feel sorry for them having their heads so far up their arses. I was told categorically that I should run a 9000 upside down in the front of my Gwagen, and as they were 800% adjustable they would definitely work. (I was already suspicious they didn't work upside down) so I asked if they could supply valving info (NO! proprietary!) Okay - So could I try one and get it dyno'ed. (NO! you dyno it, you own it!) So I bought one of the part nominated as suitable for rear (right way up) and front (upside down) for my Gwagen. , I paid to dyno it - it was 20% too soft for the rear, on the hardest setting (I lived with that) but would have been about 100% too soft for the front, right way up, and as recommended (upside down) didn't work as a shock at all. NOT AT ALL.
Product knowledge: Fail
Basic suspension knowledge: Fail
listening to your clients when I gave them that feedback: Fail
Business: Fail.
Any wonder people take the risk from the internet.
Anyways. I've always been a big fan of N76 OME's for leaf applications, but they are a bit soft for coil cars/coil conversions, but Bilstein 5150's are only AU$90 each from Lowrange +shipping. We have a pair on their way ATM for the rear of the trolley tug.
I'll let you know how they go. Bilstein=quality.
Steve.
