Hi All,

Just after your thoughts, good, bad and otherwise about a brake upgrade. The plan is Vit LWB calipers and rotors with the following goodies from lowrange

http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/index.ph ... -kits.html Will probably get the hard lines made up locally, postage due to size might cost a bit

http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/index.ph ... e-kit.html

http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/index.ph ... lines.html (the 3 hose kit I presume)

Cheers

Rusho

Are US DOT lines approved in Australia?

the hard lines will get damaged in transit, a few trips back and forward to a local brake shop will get your lines sorted out

the brake doova is illegal and prob not needed with big front brakes

I like BenT's kit

If you had of been interested earlier, i had a set of snake racing rear disc conversions up about a month ago, but seeing no one was interested in them, im doing the same conversion on my car.
I would be hesitant buying the hard lines from america before pricing them getting done here, cause with the vit lwb calipers you don't need the proportioning valve (save some $$). Brenno from tas bought the lines and valve from usa so ask him about the quality and his happyness with the system. The other thing is ask B4T about the subaru forester master cylinder upgrade :D
ALSO, if you happen to find LWB vitara calipers and there is a second set floating around, send them my way cause no-ones selling me them :D
Dave

I'm at the stage of finishing of my disc conversion.
Ive got bent kit, really good product :D
Since mine was a nt with two lines going to the rear, I had to change the little silver block below the brake boster to a different one so it's a single line going to the rear. I got a t-piece on the rear diff with hard lines going to each caliper.
Also fited a lowrange proportioning valve.
Yours is a wt so will be a lot less hassle then I had.
I would get bent kit, instead of lowrange

what you need is LWB vitara disc and calipers in the front, Any off the shelf rear disc kit and Replace your master cylinder with one from a forester. Forester master is alread set for 4wheel disc and has a larger internal bore. 1 1/18 v's 7/8. you need to make a new internal push rod but its all bolt on.

Im sure others will chime in with more details

i've just done this on my swb with the TT economy kit. i bought the kit years ago second hand but never fitted off a guy here. I've also installed a subaru forester master cylinder C/- B4T thanks mate!

The proportioning with the subie MC is pretty much spot on. It'll lock up the front and rears pretty much at the same time from around 60km/h. I'm using sierra calipers all round. I'm not using any adjustable prop valve. I also got my brake lines made up at a local brake store, cost me a whopping $35 with a few t-pieces and the flare nuts all in place. I just went in with a coat hanger bent to the shape i wanted and he built it off that.

If you need to do adjustments to the hard lines at home just get something around 50mm diameter pipe and work the line slowly and carefully over the pipe to bend it. If you are careful you will get no distortion in the line at all as it's pretty soft and easy to work with.

Also, IF PJ gets around to selling them to me, I'll be upgrading teh seats along with the brake upgrade. I was going to get those mods along with a RUF mod plated with longer shocks front and rear, is it worth it? Cause its my daily, I really want it to be as legal as possible and as its my only car, don't want any hassles with the insurance. Is it something thats possible seeing that i'm not putting uber tires, 1.6 motor and a 5 point coil conversion on the car? Do they mod plate cars for just those few mods? (and running 215s?)

I've got vit LWB front, seirra back, standard master cylinder, no adjustable prop valve and the brakes are spot on. Not saying it'll work for everyone but it did for me.

Used local brake shop for lines and T piece. Bent up fencing wire to get exact lengths. Bent the lines at home just by hand, easy to do.

I'm dioing my hardlines now, do you guys just make hardlines that go from the t-piece to the calipers?
I was thinking of just screwing the fitting into the caliper but there is nothing in the to keep the flared tube against the fitting, or does the preassure keep it there?

you need a flexible hose in there, calipers move as the pad wears!

I believe it is a slightly different kit. I think the handbrake cable system is a bit different

Chop or Christover.....how hard was it to find the galant calipers? I have rung a few wreckers up here and they say they weren't that popular and kind of on the old side now
