Of course they are not the same, joining one and a bit engines together would be extremely unique as far as I'm concerned, especially due to the few options available to you in splitting 6 cylinders out of a ten cylinder motor.
Off the top of my head there would be one of the later Ford engines, some early aircraft radials, I'm sure there were a few exotics that ran ten cylinder motors. There is the five cylinder engines too, I think VW run em, not aware of others although I'm sure they are there.

OMG are you for real?

you can use what ever engine you want, but good luck mating it to a gear box & then a transfer case.

do you really think that all manufactures would run the exact same engine design for every 1.6l 4 cylinder ever built?

you question needs more info....

right,

so you've got a list of 1.6l engines.... you can make any of them fit, with the right amount of time & money.

but good luck getting a gearbox for most of the listed if not all of those engines as they're mainly FWD engines apart from the G16, there is a reason why people bolt the G16B into sierra's.

i have to ask what is you reason for that selection of motors? non of them seem like they'd be that "easy" to fit or common?

OMG that's not a problem, I'm sorry... I just got home from work & cracked a beer, read that & nearly choked on it.

I could see the point of using one of the listed engines in a conversion if you already had it & could mate it to some sort of RWD gearbox (manual or auto) and again the suzuki ones probably could the best option followed by maybe the Mazda/Ford combo... the rest would be a nightmare.

Peugeot (and probably Citroen) HDi engines can be used with a Tata Techoline gearbox.

If you're going to go to the trouble of getting a Tata then you may as well just use the engine they've got, a rip off of the Pug 405 diesel. Much less mucking around but also a fair bit less power.

If your going to give a useless answer at least give a link or two to show the information is out there. Or is your memory too short to remember ?? Should start a call for a glass of orange juice balanced on your head with your hands up like my avatar, you've had your fair share of dumb questions.

Shane, spend a bit of time reading your post from someone else's point of view... If it makes sense you might get some proper answers

Bringz teh tech:

Vitara
LASER /BJ ASTINA 1.6 ENGINE - Mazda MX-5 auto is an AW-4 and can bolt up. They are hard to find though. It is therefore possible to build an AW-4 auto that bolts to a mazda B series motor and then bolts to your vitara transfer.

FORD FIESTA ENGINE 1.6L 2006 MODEL No.

1999 NISSAN N15 PULSAR 1.6 ENGINE Maybe using a Silvia/180SX gearbox (is it a SR series motor?) and then you could use a navara/patrol transfer.

PEUGEOT 206 1.6 ENGINE 99 TO 05 No.

Suzuki Grand Vitara Engine DOHC Will bolt to a 1.6 vitara gearbox.
VOLKSWAGEN GOLF ENGINE 1.6L 2001 MODEL No.
2007 CITROEN C4 1.6 HDI ENGINE No.

SUZUKI SWIFT SPORTS 2008 1.6L ENGINE If it's an M series motor it will bolt up to a jimny gearbox (or a jimny manual with a sierra back end.

For the motors I've said No. to, it might be possible to find a RWD gearbox, but you also have to sort a transfer. For the vitara based motors, you can use a vitara transfer, a kicker, or a divorce mounted transfer (sierra)

However, lots of RWD gearboxes have very long extension housings on them and that makes them hard to use with a divorce mounted transfer - the transfer has to move well back and can be hard , depending on wheelbase.

Oh, and as aside, you'll need to consider the position of the distributor. Typically for older FWD motors, the distributor points straight out the back of the head, which puts it in the cabin (with no heater) on a sierra, so potentially you'll want to swap to coil packs to eliminate that problem.

With any engine swap for a sierra (or vitara) in my opinion, the #1 consideration is the gearbox/transfer. There are lots of potential engines, but few with a really useful gearbox.

That's one of the reasons vitara motors are so good - a strong three or 4 speed auto and a well geared, short manual.

fwd CA16/18DE/T motors will put the dizzy through the firewall or the motor a long way forwards. Definately will bolt up to a rwd with no mounting issues, but a bit of a mess around to remove the dizzy. Not impossible, but the cheapness is often removed.

Edit... thats if it is the CA motor and not one of the other fwd engines they came specced with.

That's why I said maybe. I'm not super familiar with nissan engine series but I do know that they have veru modular gearboxes.
