Hey guys. I've bought a 94 model Sierra. She's a bit rough around the edges and needs a bit of work done on the body but I can do that myself with a few pointers and the right tools.

The engine on the other hand is very tired. Due to an unfortunate accident I have the complete engine out of my 95 model vitara ready to be cleaned up and prepped for swapping into my sierra. I was discussing this with my mate and him being a rev head has suggested going to the council auctions and picking up a commodore and taking the engine and other bits out of that and putting it into the sierra. I'f this was the case then I would keep the efi vit motor and put it into a buggy of some sort and see how many times I can roll it

Have many people done the holden 3.8 conversions and who would think this to be a good idea? the3 extra power would be awesome and I do realise I would have to increase the capacity of the fuel tank to stop it giving me the shits :)

If you do a search for Commodore V6 you'l find this topic has been discussed many times. You'l also find very negative opinions of such a conversion,

Seeing as you've already got the vit engine, do it! Commy conversion=crap IMO.

Fuel tank wouldn't be much of an issue (well, you'd have to mod it for EFI anyway), it's more that the engine weighs several times what a normal zook engine weighs. Also, with all the extra power, you're just going to brake everything.

What are you using the car for?
