nah it didnt help the erratic handling at speed (anything over 25 i guess) so it was removed

nah mine was fine with no track bar, no hopping at all just mega body roll
when cornering with the pins removed. Other than that not really noticeable

Interesting. What about lateral diff movement? No noticeable difference to having the fixed hangers?

zero, but u notice i had a stop just before the bolt attatching the leaf
i was a bit worried about the strain on the bolt and lateral movement so when the leaf contacted the stop it remained square also

would running a heavier spring on top or maybe a spring pack force the bottom spring flex more? i get loads of droop but not much movement in that full spring, ive also noticed with the rear unlocked the lower tyre seems to loose traction really easy, if the main spring was flexing more would that aid traction? of course it works fine locked up. Im definatly going to limit that top springs travel for road use it looks like a trophy truck going around corners that set up with the pins below the spring when the spring goes back up to normal position hard up against the chassis does it slide in cleanly between those brakets, i was thinking of using a u bolt but you system looks easier to remove

Any non-approved modifications to suspension are illegal. Just because you put a pin in there doesn't mean diddly-squat when it comes to legalities and insurance. ill do a quick drawing. i mean a fully bolt of top spring, that u put back on b4 u go 4wding, then unleash it when u get ofroad
It doesn't matter mate, mods like that to your suspension are a big no no.

side view
rear view
red bolts come undone, and the top leaf comes of for around town, say im going powerlines on a saterday morning, i bolt it on, and pin the spring pack in place. get to the powerlines, pull the pin and flex away. finish the track, pin goes back in, drive home, unbolt, put in the shed, and the car is no longer ilegal (for elliptical)

Mine behaves much the same.. Body roll is definitely there but I don't drive it fast enough for it to be a negative. Rear springs are stiffer than I would run otherwise but work well... Minimal lateral movement..

No one has said it yet that i can see. you need to get the front end working mor before you get more out of the rear. do a ruf then this but in saying that the unloaded tyre will slip no matter how much fully sic flex you have. LOCKERS ARE BETTER THAN FLEX

Your talking about applying this to wide track, have you considered mounting the other end of the top leaf to the chassis? In a WT the only thing that is down there is the bump stop... I cant see any way of easily bolting on and off a mount to hold the spring..
Top spring length will also be an issue.. the eye of the bottom spring needs to be behind the chassis mount, so that you have adequate shackle angle with normal use.. This means the top eye will be significantly forward of the bottom eye(because you wish to keep the chassis mount). This will restrict the amount of travel you get out of this leaf and make the rear handle very poorly. The very short length of the top spring will also affect travel here... Seems like alot of work for minimal gain and its still illegal if you get pulled over.
And for the lockers are better than flex comment. Yes lockers are better at gaining ability, but maybe we don't want lockers.. With my current setup, small tyres, no lockers or gears and decent travel, I can drive up tracks I couldn't drive locked on 33's

i realize an unloaded tyre will has less traction, mine is breaking loose with enough wieght on it to still bag with 16psi in it, granted there is practically no weight over the rear just never experienced this in in my coily

This is a perfect example of what not to do. The vehicle has terrible balance. Just look at the front end.....it may aswell be welded in place.
I realise it can be hard to get travel from the rear at times, but having 10 times less spring rate than the front is not what I would call fixing the problem.

And FATZOOK is the winner of this thread. Yeah it looks cool (to some) on a ramp, but go climp a steep/vert ledge with a stiff front and flexy rear and you will get the idea. Big twist, wheel up, then the view gets kinda strange with the sky where the ground should be. IMHO dont stress about getting more flex, lock the rig, gear it and learn how to drive. Rigs with unbalanced and poorly thought out roll stiffness front to rear are worse to drive than a rig with limited flex.
Layto....

when i did my ruf, i found it made the front end stay much more level while the suspension did its thing, also noticed an increase in rear flex too.
i had to play with the shackle angles and springs to get the best result for my driving style, the end result was a predictable stable amount of flex.
