When i changed my shocks and fitted bumpstops i lost 50mm of 'sprung' travel but gained 100mm of 'unsprung' travel and it is noticeably better. It Drives things easier. i would like longer springs but i'm yet to find a spring long and soft enough.

Jesse_vit is going to do some experimenting with jimny front coils. Standard jimny front coils are about the same height as stock but are softer so we are thinking 80mm tough dog jimny coils might go alright.

nissan 180sx rear springs, long and soft thats why i run them in mine. but if you put a bit of weight on it they sag a bit, depends on the condition of the springs. im trying my second set atm, im hoping for a bit more height.

Mine bolted straight in, all i did was swap the crush tube from the stockies to the new ones.

What model 180sx? Year.........Is there a year that is heavire as they should be the ones to get.

not sure on what the yr is, the guy i got these off had no idea on the condition or anything. the second set turned out to be lowered so chasing a 3rd. dont think yrs play much into it, could be wrong tho.

Would like a definitive answer please for which springs and shocks to use.
Too many variations and everyone seems to do something different and have to modify parts.

I want a simple bolt in job. I'm not after a sky high lift.
What fits without any messing around?

I've used a OME kit before and got SFA apart from a hard as hell ride. The Calmini kits are drug money (not to mention crap from others experiences here in NZ), and no one else in NZ does kits to suit. So a cheap DIY kit is in the books and did I mention it needs to be cheap.

Cheap = coil spacers, commodore shocks in the rear, strut extenders on the front, and extend the bumpstops. Factory coils so still rides nice and soft and gives you a 2" lift for a few hundred dollars.

$10 for a strut mount flip (nuts bolts and washers) instead of strut spacers, only works on vitara.

vt wagon for 2in lift, 3-4in use vt sedan shocks. I sugest going to a pick a part type wreckers and measure up some shocks or read the monroe catalogue.

Cheers for the help guys. I'm only after a max of 2" lift. I don't want to go too high so I don't need to drop the front diff etc.

Got some Cefiro/Laurel springs from a joker from work and will get some VT wagon shocks.
As for the front setup, Will GV springs and strut spacers or strut top flip work, or will I need spring spacers as well?
Will I also need to fit a rear axle top mount spacer as well?

unsure about what springs to use up front, I figure the front end is pretty ridged anyway so I would just use spacers with a strut mount flip. this will work if you have a regular vitara.

don't worry about the rear axle spacer thing. not till you go over 2in. getting the rear to flex well will make up for the lack of travel in the IFS.

mounts are the same for LWB & SWB, you need to match the length to the amount of wheel travel/lift.

i rang and found that the vn open is 517 not 530 which was mentioned above this shall still be plenty of travel compared to stock for a 2inch lift yes?

i used shockers out of a jeep wrangler shockers in the back vl springs in the back as well worked really well flexed up nice needed extended break lines cos i could play a note on them they where that tight

Does anyone know the part number for the gabriel camira rear shock? I'm going to be running a 3-4" lift in my GV what shocks would you guys recommend?

OK so just to clarify, as after sitting here for a few hours reading, I'm more confused lol...
Someone please let me know if this will work lol

Rear:
-2 x Gabriel Ultra rear shock absorbers for a VK/VL station wagon, part # 69609 (not Vn/Vc ?)
-S13(180xs/silvia) rear Stock springs
--Or a 50mm spring spacer(?)
-1.5" Shock re-locator brackets

Front:
-Strut top flip
-25mm spring spacer..
--Or will a pair of GV springs work instead?
