Who decides that the complete emissions control system of the donor car, and the correct EFI fuel lines, sealed filler cap etc have been installed as part of the conversion? These are normally the things an engineer will oversee.

when i engineered mine with the 1.6 in it, the engineer couldnt care less about the engine, and when it went over the pits they looked at it from above, asked who fitted it, shrugged and moved on to checking the rest of the car... they didnt look at the engine mounts, exhaust, ANYTHING!

They don't want to know about it Steve, in my conversations with their technical team, as long as your using what is a bolt in conversion and keeping emission equipment to the motor in question if it's same capacity it's ok. When I pushed about carbs and efi single to twin cam etc.... The reply is, don't care. So that's not to bad with regard to how NSW normally is.

Your F6a problem would be different in NSW, you would need to do emissions testing and pass whatever levels were in force when the engine/car was complied (they take whatever was the latest year so later model engine it's emissions based on when that was complied). We have two emissions testing venues that you can use for free and normally if you have a healthy engine, new cat and no fuel vapor leaks it'll pass. FWIW the busa engines were originally thought to have to pass 79/00 and only Toyota and Ford in Vic have facilities for this level of testing. They were close but didn't pass and in the end a window came up with local legislation that allowed them to pass 37/00 at a local NSW testing facility. What isn't known is that for interesting vehicles The Victorian manufacturers normally waive the testing fee. That said emissions testing is a interesting process with control fuel used by manufacturers that then isn't replicated on our roads.
