Yeah 1300's. NFI on Kms, but the motors don't usually last much more than 220-250K anyway.

I do think my comments are relevant in this thread though, as the OP is considering an engine swap. When you look at suzukis' design philosphy for the sierra, everything was made as light as possible, so that everything worked together with other components in the drive line, to create a light and agile vehicle. So when you swap in a bigger engine, or swap in bigger tyres, you can quickly reach the limits of the small, light components in the sierra.

Some people have a good run with the sierra 5sp, Others run 33's on standard diffs without issue.... And a G13B driven symathetically may be fine indefinately. But it doesn't hurt to be aware that you are exceeding the intended design of one or more components in your driveline.

I don't think 1.3 boxes are weak. However, if the car has worn put one engine in front of the gearbox, it's fair to assume the box isn't the freshest any more. Rather than spend money on a conversion kit and hd clutch, I'd argue that that money is better spent on fitting the gearbox Suzuki designed to run behind the 1.6. It's also likely to be less worn and newer than the Sierra gearbox.

I was always going to keep the sierra box, me being a tight arse and all and besides it keeps me in practice for driving the tanker.
truth be told the 6sp in it easier to drive then the sierra box Isuzu for the win.

the clock has 345 on it but i have no idea how many parts on this car are original. its got some dodgy shit and some stuff that is definately not normal but all in all whoever built had a pretty good idea.

I would say the gearbox is in pretty good nick, from feel alone.

Of course all of this is going to depend on how you like your vehicles.

Fit a 1.6 gearbox (and the required 1.6 flywheel) and the engine isn't going to be as revvy as with the smaller lighter 1.3 flywheel. They change the character of the engine quite a bit, me I don't like that, if your after a torque monster not a problem. As Joe says, its not quite a bolt in either, unless you've got a body lift.

On the GTI engines, I still maintain that the Sierra boxes will be ok and that its the torque of the 1.6 that kills these rather than the power. As I've previously stated I know of a few guys running sierra gearboxes quite successfully behind GTI engines in race cars.

If you're not turboing the car, and don't flat change/thrash the box then the sierra one should hold up fine
