I've got to try and put some rated recovery points on a arb bar, is there any way of doing this or should i just ditch the arb bar and get a custom tube bar made up??

The problem isn't bolting the hooks to the bar, there are holes pre-drilled in most of them.
The problem is the bar mounts and tearing the bar off the chassis when you use the recovery hooks.
Better to mount the hooks directly to the chassis, preferably with some internal reinforcing.

according to the previous owner the arb bar got ripped off once while winching he got it all repaired and it was all reinforced and strengthened, I'm thinking now of just ditching the arb bar and just go for a custom high mount bar to suit, i think what i will do is mound a hook on each chassis rail and then use an equalizer strap when needing to be snatched, not that i will need to be snatched much but at least if i have them there its money in the bank when needing to use it

Using an equalizer strap is far more likely to bend a chassis than not using one.

Unless an equaliser strap is AT LEAST twice as long as the distance between the two points used there is more force pulling the points towards each other than there is pulling the car forward. No recovery point is designed for that sort of side loading.

the equalizer strap idea came from a mate who owns a competition patrol, zooks and patrols are a world apart

ok so I looked at the arb bar that's on it tonight and seen the holes they have in them to mount recovery hooks

now besides that i had a look how the bar is mounted and it looks like there is very little amount of room on the end of the chassis to get a good solid mount for a winch bar especially when its also going to have a high mount in it

is it worth extending the chassis to get a strong mounting point to take the weight or just brace the bar on both sides of each chassis rail??
