Hi Folks,

I have a weeping Trans drain bolt. I have tried the thread tape and it hasnt worked. Slowly dripping trans oil.

IS there anyway to counter the problems. Seems the transfer case and diffs have no issue but the trans just wont stop weeeping oil.

Any fixes?

Has it got the seal on it still? I'd replace it with a new ?copper seal.

Nah mate no seal. Can i get one for supercheap auto?

I am also not sure if the 1991 vitara are supposed to have a seal because there is no taper for the seal to ride up against to hold it in place. hmmmm 8-O

degrease & clean up the drain plug so it's spotless, run a small bead of oil friendly silicone around the flange & let it tack off so it's almost dry, then fit.

If there's a flange there should be either a copper or plastic washer to seal it - if there is no flange, it will be tapered and thread seal should work.

Mine was weeping. Didn't bother fixing till fluid change was due.
I retapped mine and fitted a slightly bigger drain plug., but my thread was stuffed.
Changing pan could be a better solution.
Mine still weeps slightly, but hasn't shown any drop on stick,
or dripped on the skid pan yet.
