Hi guys I'm thinking of making at rear bar for my swb sierra and Im not sure how to mount it. in the future I want to have a swing away so I'm guessing the mounts need to be strong. I just want to know where everyone else has mounted theirs so I can get some ideas

I did the same type deal as this viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7930&hilit=+shep+proof+winch+mount but of course with the rear. I went this route as I already have some sus welds to my chassis I can't afford for the boys in blue to find anything else. Technically I never welded to the chassis. I have pics of mine if your want them. I did find how ever that the bar chould tilt so I "glued" a tab from the pipe cross member and bolted it to the bar to limit how far it can twist, and a little bit more support as my bar is a towbar as well.

originally was going to go with something like this bolted to the chassis but without access to an oxy or plasma they where a bit difficult.


Mind the flaky shit from the gal and gassless but that's the general jist of it, I made up the bar cut the brackets for the mounts and tacked them together to drill them , welded to the bar bolted other mount to it jacked the bar up to where I wanted it welded to pipe inside the cross member, holes where already aligned bolts just slip straight in with ease. If I where to make another bar I would use I or h beam for the mount on the bar and cut off one section instead of welding two bits of flat together like in the second pic.
