Hi Everyone,

I'm currently making some winch mounts and am in need of steel, but all the metal places I've contacted will only sell me 8mm steel by the sheet (super heavy and pricey). Does anyone know where/ have some 8mm steel, around an A3 sheet of paper size or slightly bigger. I have access to a laser cutter and water jet, so exact size doesn't matter.

Thanks everyone

Which side of Sydney?

Mascot steel will do small cuts, but you pay for it.
Also try Metaland in Silverwater.

I tried Metaland the other day and they really weren't keen on selling me anything less than a whole piece. Will give Mascot Steel a go tomorrow. If not I may be able to get a piece of 10mm but I think its going to be overkill. Then again its holding the winch, bar and recovery points so maybe it isn't too overkill. Any thoughts?

6mm is plenty for winch and bar and mounting a recovery point too. Remember all the force ends up going to the 2.5mm chassis.
