Im putting a 5 speed into a nt and ive got to make a new gearbox crossmember. Just wondering how straight the jackshaft is ment to be
Mine is on a slight angle, and getting it more straight will come close to the original crossmember.

Cut the old one out if your making a new one. Straighter the better I reacon. What is your idea of a slight angle??
<5 degrees, < 10 degrees???

I ran a 1.3 5speed in a 1.0L NT LWB and my jack shaft was at a slight angle.
Was that way for years.
Look at a stocker, they are at a slight anglr, too.
My guess is that this helps keep the bearing grease moving round the cups.
But I not an engineer, I just copy Suzuki.

Angle is fine, just make sure enough spline is engaged into the gearbox

Spreads the force/wear over more needle rollers so the unis will last longer than being straight.

It is much more important that the plane of the gearbox output and transfer input are the same angle,
to me the tranny appears too lean back to far.
The angle of the jack shaft looks ok to me.

It's always a bit of a compromise tho cos you'll need to consider front and rear output angles as well. Looks ok to me

IMO looks like the gearbox needs to be lowered a bit more.

The gearbox shaft and xfer input shaft should be as parallel as possible.
I used a bolting face and flange for my noob cad allignment.

Even off this, im sure you could work out how to measure it and set it up parallel.

Thanks guys. Ill figure it out. One more thing should the gearbox output shaft should be pointing to the direction of the transfercase flange or should you square the gearbox to the chassis. (Offset)
