Cool idea, but an inline 6 is a terrible choice- there's not really enough length in the engine bay. A four, v6 or v8 is an easier fit.

SuziQs over here did a Coworth engine Vit. SuziQs are well known here for the Wideboy and Fatboy conversions, many of which were lowered.

A lowered Vit would be awesome as a road car, but I agree with the suggestions to avoid the straight 6 engine due to the length. Still plenty of other great options to re-power it tho.

at least the V6 IS going to fit... you've got zero chance in getting a RB25det into a vitara

mine & Chops V6's sound alright. 8)

Really? Considering they handle terribly (and are actually better when lifted due the huge roll centre mismatch front to rear) I reckon a lowered vitara would be lethal on road, let alone one with more power.

Road cars are for driving on road.

You're complaining that V6s sound bad and you're suggesting an SR20? :thefinger:

Macdaddy's GV is one of the best sounding vehicles around. 8)

Yeah, but the idea of doing the mod in the first place was to get powa. The v6 vitara/gv donk, whilst being light and having good power for its size cannot compare to the nissan shit.

The SR would fit and leave the OP with plenty of headroom for moar powah. The h2* is still a conversion and I'd wager less is known about getting good grunt from them than an SR.

The H2* has the advantage of being a factory "conversion" but compared to the SR what makes it better anyway, more power and torque? Nup. Cheaper? Possibly.
All suzuki? yep.

Personally, I'd just buy one of the many lovely imports you see getting around.

Edit: Maybe I shouldn't have made the sarcastic joke about v6 sound (I know they can sound pretty cool) but come on: someone who was looking at an rb25 is going to be disappointed w/ a h27.

Thanks Steve,

Poor choice of words in my case, I think a lowered Vit would look good, but the lowering would have to be done properly.
Haven't looked into it myself but roll centre correction/adjustment should be possible?...although probly not cheap.....another reason why these sort of conversions are so expensive to do properly.

I think the way that the Suzuki swapped to a panhard rod in the rear of the GV is the evidence of what needs to be done to lower the rear roll centre. That's lot of work.

I had a "lowered" (as in no springs and bumpstops) :D vitara at my place for a while - it was a wrecked out car on it's way to the tip. It looked awesome, but that's the whole problem with "stance" - is it enough for a car to just look good?

It would be cheaper to buy an R33 Skyline... and they are much nicer to drive than any Vitara.

Also have you seen how long the bonnet on a Skyline is and how short the bonnet on a Vitara is?
